The Sustainable Oregon Schools Initiative (SOSI)’s mission is to help Oregon’s K-12 schools integrate sustainability principles system-wide and prepare our children to create and succeed in a sustainable future.
SOSI uses the definition of sustainability: "meeting the educational, environmental, social and economic needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

My vision is that each and every decision school districts' make regarding "What is best for kid?" are always viewed through the focusing lens of Sustainability.
What are some examples of K-12 Sustainable School in action that can be shared?

You make a great point. At SOSI one of our goals is to highlight the sustainability efforts of each district and their journey during that process.
We have begun to post these on our website. First you might want to begin on the "Discover" tab and checking out the "Sustainability in Schools" tab. (or by clicking here: http://sustainableschools.org/discover/sus_nor.htm)
Then go to "Take Action" and click on the "Schools and Districts" tab for the "School Stories." Bend-La Pine has a great one and keep your eye out for the story of Corvallis coming in the near future. (http://sustainableschools.org/action/stories.htm)
Oregon is making great process in creating an educational lens for sustainability !
